Scott Storrick

Boys/Girls Head Coach

Where were you born? 

Frankfurt Germany

 

Tell us about your family? Do you have children? Pets?

I have been married to Amy for 33 years. We have two children. Rob (our son) and wife Jordan - grandson Jace. Libby (our daughter) and husband Adrian. We have two Bernese Mountain Dogs - Ivy and Penny

 

What high school did you attend?  

Blaine High School - 1981

 

What sports did you grow up playing? 

Soccer, Hockey, Nordic Skiing and tennis.

 

Where did you go to college? 

Bemidji State University

 

Did you play any college sports?

If so, what did you play?  I had a scholarship to play tennis.

 

How long have you been coaching tennis?

25 boys tennis; 22 girls tennis

 

Where have you coached tennis before?

I volunteered my time at Sleepy eye while I was working in manufacturing in Sleepy Eye.

 

Where have you coached tennis before? 

All my years of tennis have been at Coon Rapids.

 

What do you enjoy about coaching tennis?

I love that players are not subbed out during their match and they need to figure out ways to win their matches. I enjoy so much watching players develop. 

 

What is your coaching philosophy? 

I want players to develop their mental toughness which is a life long skill that will help them throughout their lifetime. In addition, all athletes give meaningful experience to all of our players while developing their skills and values in life through sports. 

 

What do you enjoy outside of tennis? 

I love to spend time with my family and friends. I love to be outdoors hunting and fishing. Any racket sport - tennis, pickleball and racquetball. Love to garden flowers and vegetables. Also, walking our 2 Berners Mountain dogs is a joy.

I have been Married 24 years to Jen, I have 5 Kids, and a cat

What high school did you attend?

Rush City H.S.

What sports did you grow up playing?

Football, Basketball, Baseball

​

Where did you go to college?

University of Northwestern (St. Paul)

​

Did you play any college sports? If so, what did you play?

I played Football and Baseball in college.

How long have you been coaching tennis?

6 years

Where have you coached tennis before? 

Burnsville H.S.

What do you enjoy about coaching tennis?

I enjoy teaching beginners how to play and seeing their successes when they work hard 

at something.

What is your coaching philosophy?

I enjoy connecting with students and helping them become the best they can be on the

 court, in classes, and in everyday life.

What do you enjoy outside of tennis?

I enjoy the outdoors, Fishing, pickleball, and summer with the family

Dan Haertl

Where were you born? 

Neenah, WI

 

Tell us about your family? Do you have children? Pets?

I have a daughter, she is a 3rd grade teacher.  I have 2 cats, 15 year old Jack, and Halo, who is 1.

 

What high school did you attend?  

Neenah High School.

 

What sports did you grow up playing

Football (QB), Basketball and track.

 

Where did you go to college? 

St Olaf in Northfield, MN.

 

Did you play any college sports? If so, what did you play? 

I played Football (QB and returned punts and kickoffs) and ran track (long jump, triple jump and sprints).

 

How long have you been coaching tennis?

36 years.

 

 

Where have you coached tennis before? 

Hamline University, 1986-2006; St Francis HS 1990-1994; Osseo HS, 2006-2008; Maple Grove HS, 2008-present; Centennial HS, 2008-2023.

 

What do you enjoy about coaching tennis?

Love being a part of a team.  Tennis is such a fascinating game.  Always a challenge to the athletes and coaches trying to help them compete.

 

What is your coaching philosophy? 

I want to make sure the athletes are ready to play and compete.  My focus is not on winning, but rather the effort put into the match.  I want to make sure they love to solve problems and make adjustments on the court.  Respect for their teammates, coaches and opponents are also significantly important to me.

 

What do you enjoy outside of tennis? 

I love to play guitar and sing.  I have my own band with my daughter.  We play and sing music for kids and their parents.  I work out 6-7 days a week.  Love to travel with my wife.

Tell us about your family? Do you have children? Pets?

Married to the cutest girl in the whole world, Holly for 13 years.  Two sons, Dominic (9) and Charles (7)

 

What high school did you attend?

Fridley High School

 

What sports did you grow up playing? 

Hockey, Tennis, Soccer

 

Where did you go to college? 

UW-Madison, St. Cloud State

 

Did you play any college sports? If so, what did you play? 

Nope

 

How long have you been coaching tennis? 

10 years

 

Where have you coached tennis before? 

 

What do you enjoy about coaching tennis? 

I love that the sport requires you to have a high level of skill and also a high level of mental toughness.

 

What is your coaching philosophy? 

You need to focus on all of the little things over and over again in practice so that when you enter a contest your mind and body already know what they should do.

 

What do you enjoy outside of tennis? 

Traveling and spending time at the Lake with Family and Friends. I love the Outdoors.  I love the game of Hockey. I love construction and building.
